An excellent Doc Savage novel! This is one of those that are great just for Lester Dent's (a.k.a. Kenneth Robeson) characterization of Doc as being slightly more flawed than in a lot of the other pulps. In this tale, Doc is trying to do his duty for the government, but hasn't got a lot of information as to who his friends are in this particular situation. Doc shows a lot of real emotion, panic and even some fear as things progress, making him seem a lot more human than his superhuman exploits normally let it seem. Definitely a good pulp adventure tale I would recommend to anyone.
